Charles "Charlie" Gfroerer, age 75 of Hamilton, passed away in Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:22 AM. He was born in Hamilton on February 24, 1932, the son of Elmer and Romilda (Pater) Gfroerer. Charlie was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church; a veteran of the Korean Conflict with the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956; a member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society; K. of C. #968; American Legion Post #218; Farm and Friends Pitch Clubs; a devoted pitch player and an avid Browns fan. He was a 1950 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and was employed as a master mechanic for the City of Hamilton for thirty-six years, retiring in 1994. On September 14, 1957 in Hamilton, he was married to Barbara Connaughton. "A uniquely lovable person who in his quiet way made everyone around him happy. For the countless smiles, auto advice and service, we thank you".
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Gfroerer of Hamilton; one son, Chris (Susan) Gfroerer of Milford; one daughter, Cynthia Gfroerer of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Cara Grace and Mia Christine and also one sister, Judy White of Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eileen Brenner and Millie Savage.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Ave., on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Father Michael Hay, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Badin High School.
