Charles E. Harris

Charles E. Harris, age 68 of Hamilton passed away at University Hospital on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11:20 PM. He was born in Hamilton on February 28, 1942 the son of John and Emma (Thompson) Harris. Charles was employed in maintenance at Armco (AK Steel). He was a member of Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1, Eagles Post #8936, Amvets #1983, and Moose Lodge #501. Charles was an avid fisherman, hunter, bowler, and golfer, but his real passion was gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him. On June 8, 1963 in Hamilton he married Wanda Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Harris of Hamilton; a son, Dean (Leah) Harris of Oxford Township; a daughter, Anita (Mike) McConnell of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jason, Joe, and Josh McConnell; two brothers, Lonnie (Kaye) Harris and Doug Harris, both of Hamilton; a sister, Shirley (Alan) Hulett of Oxford Township; his stepmother, Mae Harris of Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Jean (Doug) Goins of Hamilton and Diane (Frank) Russo of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law, Davene Harris and Carolyn Sue Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Byrd and Charles Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jerry Pascarella, Pastor of Pentecostal Highway of Holiness officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped Charles during his long journey. In lieu of flowers, please take your family out to dinner and enjoy your time with the ones you love.
