Charles Glen Hicks

September 29, 1934 — December 1, 2012

Age 78, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Fairfield with his family by his side. He was born in London, Kentucky on September 29, 1934. Charles was a cement mason supervisor and retired from Baker Concrete Construction. He was a member of Masonic Temple, Hamilton, Washington Lodge #17, and Cherry Valley Baptist Church. On July 16, 1955 in Jellico, Tennessee he married Zella Webb.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Zella (Webb) Hicks; children, Tobbie Ann (Hicks) Abner of Hamilton, Charles Douglas Hicks of Fairfield, and Karen Sue (Hicks) Thompson of Fairfield; grandchildren, Nathan Thompson and Katelyn Thompson; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita (Berlin) Whitis of London, Kentucky, Beulah Faye (Eugene) Hinkle of Hamilton, Gay Etta Foister of Hamilton; Gretha (Carl) Westerfield of London, Kentucky, and Glida Morgan of Corbin, Kentucky; brother, Gary Wayne (Shirley) Hicks of Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ollie Hicks; sister, Jeanette Haynes; and brother, Winford Hicks. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the physicians and staff at Mercy. Charles will be missed by all his family and friends.

Visitation will be 10am, until time of service (12noon), Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue with Nathan Thompson (Charles’ grandson) officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cincinnati Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
