Charles W. Jones

Charles W. Jones, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 3:45 PM. He was born in Loretta, Tennessee on July 18, 1931 the son of Millard and Loraine (Brown) Jones. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a supervisor at Cincinnati Mine Machine for over 50 years. On May 19, 1951 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana he married Sofie Cole, and she preceded him in death in 1985; on May 23, 1986 in Cincinnati he married Ann (Ellis) Freeland.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Jones of Hamilton; a daughter, Carlotta (William) Gons of Loveland; three stepchildren, William A. (Amy) Freeland Jr. of West Chester, Jeffrey D. (Judy) Freeland and Carolyn Freeland, both of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Eric (Erica) Gons and Erin (Cory) Herdrich; 7 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Boyd (Rachel) Jones of Thomaston, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Don Jones; and a sister, Letha Mae Lanier.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Eileen English of Hospice of Hamilton officiating. Cremation will be held. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Hamilton or to Hospice of Cincinnati.
