Charles M. Urban Sr.

Charles M. Urban Sr., age 91 of Seven Mile, passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. He was born in Hamilton on April 29, 1916 the son of Michael and Carrie (Kerby) Urban. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed as a machine operator at Champion International for 40 years, retiring in 1976. On October 24, 1936 in Alexandria, Kentucky he married Lilly M. Hoskins, and she preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by a son, Mick (Marilyn) Urban Jr. of Hamilton; two daughters, Karol McCracken of Seven Mile and Joey (Richard) Piombino of Marietta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Sally Weisman, David (Wendy) McCracken, Daphne (Marty) Monterosso, Jenny Lee, Michael Urban, Adam Piombino, and Laura Piombino; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, James, Robert, and Phillip Urban; and two sisters, Martha Cornthwaite and Frances Tendam.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday at 11AM with Mr. Jack Young officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Seven Mile Presbyterian Church or Vitas Hospice.
