Christine "Granny" Dawson

Christine "Granny" Dawson, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 1:20 PM. She was born in Garrard County, Kentucky on July 25, 1924 the daughter of Harrison and Minnie (Cullip) Estes. Christine was a longtime member of the former North 7th Street Church of Christ, where she coordinated the Crisis Cupboard for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star. On May 24, 1941 she married Richard Dawson, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

She is survived by three daughters, Juanita (Kenneth) Brown, Billie Jean (Jack) Evans, and Marcella Bergeron, all of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Kathy Lynn Brown, Kenneth (Dawn) Brown, Jeffrey (fiancee Misty Dotson) Brown, Steven (fiancée Barbara Stewart) Evans, Kelly Ann (Stephen) Scarbrough, Denise (Charles) Morris, and Michele (Wendell) Brandenburg; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Morton Downey of Cora Peake, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison Estes and Minnie Curry; a brother, Shipton Estes; and a son-in-law, David Bergeron.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
