Christine A. Helton

Christine A. Helton, age 87, formerly of Hamilton, passed away in her residence in Winter Springs, Florida on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 10:15 AM. She was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on February 20, 1920 the daughter of Artie and Mittie (Dermon) Burk. Christine was a member of the VFW Post #1069 Auxiliary and was the owner/operator of Center Haven Nursing Home for seventeen years, retiring in 1982. On March 16, 1940 in Covington, Kentucky she was married to Harry Helton, and he preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by one son, Harry "Gene" (Dona) Helton of Bradenton, Florida; one daughter, Brenda (Kenneth) Evans of Winter Springs, Florida; one brother, Rev. Orville (Ruby) Burk of Fairfield; four sisters, Ada Davis of Middletown, Betty Stable of Orlando, Florida, Lola (Walter) Wooten of Ventura, California, and Emma (Spike) Cottonwood of Three Rivers, California; five grandchildren, Lori, Dustin, Todd, Melissa, and Kim; ten great-grandchildren, Terry Lynn, Christina, Ashley, Nick, Kara, Ryan, T.J., Rachel, Dylan, and Alexandra; and one great-great-grandchild, Ethan; and also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Wilburn, Lester, and Charles Burk; and five sisters, Hilda Friedman, Anna Belle Moore, Virgie Abrams, Mary Lou Jones, and Ruth Figg.

Funeral service will be held at the Hamilton Church of God, 1760 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Alan Weaver, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714.
