Cola Buttree (née Martin), age 92, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering devotion to her family. She was born in Clay County, Kentucky, on February 25, 1934, to the late Levi and Fannie Rogers Martin. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Oxford Pentecostal Church. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Opal Buttree. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Cola’s life revolved around her family and her faith, and she was loved by all who knew her. Her home and kitchen were always open, welcoming family and friends with warmth and hospitality. A wonderful Southern cook, Cola had a gift for making everyone feel at home, and no visitor ever left her table hungry. Her greatest joy was her family, and the love she gave so freely will continue through the generations.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Jack) Martin and Chuck (Lori) Buttree; grandchildren, Shannon (Nick) Morano, Kyle Martin, Katey Buttree, and Josh Buttree; and great-grandchildren, Max Morano and Avery Morano, who will forever treasure the love and memories she gave them. In addition to her parents and husband, Cola was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Sue Buttree; three sisters; and five brothers.
Cola will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her deep faith, her generous heart, and the warmth of a home where there was always room for one more at the table. Her love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Hospice of Cincinnati for the compassionate care, comfort, and dignity they provided to our mother. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation in remembrance of Cola on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 10-11am at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home located at 1350 Millville Avenue in Hamilton, OH with a funeral service to follow beginning at 11am with Chaplain Tracy Lynn Paul Downs officiating. Interment will be private.
