Cordell W. "Corky" Mellott, age 63 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. He was born in Hamilton on December 26, 1946 the son of Bev Wyatt and Zella Mae (Bowling) Mellott. Corky was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Era from 1964 to 1968. He was employed as a coating prep operator at Champion International Paper for 35 years. In 1966 in Hamilton, he married Sherron Bailey.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sherron G. Mellott; three children, Kim (Fred) Gibson, Sherry (Mark) McBee, and Jason (Lisa) Mellott; three grandchildren, Brett, Corey, and Brady; two brothers, James L. Wyatt and Larry E. Wyatt; and a sister, Janet Sims. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dan Hill and Pastor Steve Smith of Church Of The Living God officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
