Craig A. Hon

Craig A. Hon, age 52, of Hamilton, OH passed away on October 23, 2017 at Hospice of Hamilton after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Craig was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 22, 1964. He was the son of the late Charles Hon and Janice (Ballerino) Hon. Craig graduated from Hamilton High School in 1983. He attended Miami University for two years before beginning his career with Hamilton Police Department on June 26, 1989 as a Public Safety Communication Officer. Craig became a police officer on June 28, 1999 where he served as a patrol officer assigned to "A" shift. He was a member of the FOP #19 and retired from the Hamilton Police Department on October 4, 2013.

Craig is survived by his mother, Janice "Jay" Hon of Hamilton, Ohio; his son, Tyler Hon of Cincinnati; sister, Julie (Pat) McCoy of Hudson, Ohio; three nephews, Evan McCoy of Northville, MI, Brian (Nicole) McCoy of Columbus, OH, Connor McCoy of Cleveland, OH., and close friends Patti & Brian Toth. He is also survived by uncles Roger (Julia) Ballerino, Robert Dawson and Ronald Hingsbergen, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Hon; cousin, Jeffrey Hingsbergen; three aunts, Diane Hingsbergen, Linda Baker, Marie Dawson.

Craig was well known for coordinating his annual football pool and absolutely loved doing it. His great sense of humor helped him throughout his illness.

Visitation will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 from 6:00PM – 7:30PM at Brown Dawson Funeral home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, OH, with a FOP service following the visitation at 7:30PM. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Craig's name can be made to the Hamilton Police Department Youth Fund, ℅ of Sgt. Brian Robinson, 331 South Front Street, Hamilton, OH 45011.
