Dale Sterling Mapel, age 60 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He was born in Hamilton on July 27, 1950 the son of Harold and Lena (Saunders) Mapel. Dale was employed as a welder and in the open hearth at Armco Steel for 23 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in North Bend.
He is survived by four daughters, Anna (Sonny) Banks of Middletown, Angela (Thomas) Downard of Hamilton, Rebecca Mapel of Fairfield, and Crystal Mapel of Jackson, Kentucky; his mother, Lena Mapel of Seven Mile; a brother, Craig Mapel of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a sister, Sandra (Pete) Rathel of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Grace, Dylan, Sydney, and Hailey. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on July 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Charles Denning of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM.
