Darius Gene Bates

Darius Gene Bates, age 40 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:56 PM. He was born in Hamilton on November 22, 1970 the son of Emery and Louvada (Owens) Bates. Darius was a welder by trade. On September 6, 1996 in Hamilton he married LaDonna Reid.

He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Bates of Hamilton; two sons, Darius Bates and Jonathan Bates, both of Hamilton; his parents, Emery and Louvada Bates of Hamilton; a brother, Emery "Bub" (Connie) Bates of Lebanon; three sisters, Penny Hatton, Cricket Seagraves, and Michele (Dean) Carew, all of Hamilton; his mother-in-law, Sharon Smith of Hamilton; his father-in-law, Edward (Paula) Reid of Hamilton; Bobby (Joy) Thompson of Hamilton; and he will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Lee Bates.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 9:00 AM with Rev. Donald Pierce, Pastor of Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow in Flannery Cemetery, Jackson County, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
