Darrell Lee Payne

Darrell Lee Payne, age 77 of Seven Mile, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Darrell was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 5, 1944 to the late Archie and Bertha (Creach) Payne.

He was the beloved husband of Lenora (Gray) Payne of 59 years; the loving father to his two sons, Darrell Scot and Jerry Payne; and the devoted brother to Ethel (Payne) Bell. He is also survived by his two special sisters-in-law, Judy and Renee, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends that are too numerous to mention by name.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles William Payne and his wife, Patricia Payne; and his brother-in-law, John Bell.

Darrell grew up in Williamsdale and attended New Miami Schools. He retired after 37 years of service at Armco Steel.

Darrell enjoyed many years of traveling to his home in Panama City Beach, Florida with his wife, Lenora. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, over a cup of coffee, at Red’s Hamburger. Throughout his life, Darrell was an avid sportsman. He played basketball, football, and excelled at pitching in baseball and softball. Darrell was fun-loving, kind, generous, and never met a stranger. Darrell led an honorable and meaningful life and was loved so deeply by his close-knit family. He will be profoundly missed by his family and others, but we take solace in knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus and that we will meet again in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM until the time of his Funeral Service at 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio. Burial will follow the next day, Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Hickory Flat Cemetery.
