Darryl G. Thomas

Darryl G. Thomas, age 59 of Hamilton passed away in his residence on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 4:15 AM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on February 10, 1950 the son of Herbert and Lela (Gibson) Thomas. Darryl was employed as a laborer for Local #534 for 30 years, retiring in 2005. In 1974 in Covington, Kentucky he was married to Edna Couch, and she preceded him in death in 1997.

He is survived by the love of his life for the last nine years, Tonya Vaughn of Hamilton; one son, Andrew Thomas of Bloomingdale, Michigan; four brothers, Theo, Lowell, Raleigh, and Harold Thomas, all of Kalamazoo, Michigan; three sisters, Nancy Sayers and Nell Thomas, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Anita Thomas of Winter Park, Florida; and also six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Thomas in 1990; and one sister, Nina Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Curtis Colwell of Westview Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of donor’s choice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to all those who helped and supported Darryl during his illness.
