David D. Combs

David D. Combs, age 81 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:45AM. David was born in his family’s cabin on Right Fork Masons Creek, Kentucky on March 8, 1936 to his Father and Mother, Dee and Judy Combs and his Mom and Pop, Hartley and Geneva Combs. Dave was a United States Marine, serving from 1953-1956. On March 11, 1957 in Brookville, IN, he married Carrol Pratt. He was employed by Champion Paper Company. Dave loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, training bird dogs, caning chairs, gardening, bird watching and working in his yard. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ and a Kentucky Colonel.

Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carrol Combs; his children, Tim (Linda) Combs, Susan (Greg) Dameron, and Jana (Devon) Byrd; six grandchildren, Alex (Meghan) Dameron, Matt (Haley) Dameron, Abbie Kallick, Davis Byrd, Damon Byrd, and Tonya Hughes; siblings, Irene Caudill Swift, Jewel Schaney, and Dale Combs; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Dishmond Combs, Henry Combs, Herbert Combs, Opal Abner, and Oma Farler.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 12noon with Mr. Nathan Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Reily Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10AM to 12noon at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Christian Family Center Food Bank, 601 Heaton St. Hamilton, OH 45011.
