David Eugene Russell

David Eugene Russell, age 95 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Gene was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 13, 1929 to Rufus and Helen (nee Brehm) Russell. On September 23, 1950, he married Ada Kochendarfer, who preceded him in death in 1957. On February 14, 1958, he married Fay Collett, who preceded him in death on August 22, 2025. Together they had seven daughters, eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren. Gene was an adoring husband to his beautiful bride, proud father and papaw. He retired from The United States Postal Service after many years of service. Upon retirement, Gene worked for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and during his winters spent in Florida, he was a security guard at the Sarasota Dog Track. Gene was a member of the Monkeys and the VFW. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, hunting, eating popcorn and drinking beer.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Glenda (Clayton) Sebastian, Carolyn (Randy) Saunders, Rhonda (Mike) Ellison, and Cheryl Russell; his grandchildren, Kimmy, Patty, David, Jimmy, Karen, Sharon, Timmy, Thomas and Jennifer; his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Blake, Kelsie, Makenna, Konner, Jordan, Bailey, Karlie, Brenden, Jude, Emma, Elizabeth, Eden, Ella, John, Kierra, Kyla, Matthew and Marissa; his great great-grandchildren, Reece, Renly, Kynlee, Kyrie, Desiree, Rio and Atlas; his sisters, Mae Campbell and Sarah (Richard) Morefield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Russell; his father, Rufus (Mildred) Russell; his daughters, Kimberly Russell, Patricia Combs, and Deborah Cummins; his grandsons, Bobby Combs and Steven Cummins; and his siblings, Robert Lee Russell, Florence Augspurger and Mary Meister.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45013. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Joe McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Reily Township. Memorial contributions can be made to The Monkey Mutual Aid Society in Hamilton, OH.
