David E. Smith Sr.

David E. Smith Sr., age 96 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. David was born in Smith Grove Kentucky on February 2, 1926 to Edward Lester Smith and Julina Franklin (Moody) Smith. He was the youngest of 10 children. He honorably served in the United States Army during WWII. He then met and married Joan Theda Zeigler and was married for over 50 years. They would have 5 children. David proudly worked for Champion paper for over 40 years. After his retirement, he then worked for Miami University for many years. Having taught himself to bow hunt he became an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a skill he generously shared with his children and grandchildren.

David is survived by his children; Jeanie Baker, Linda Gray, David (Lori) Smith, Susan (Roger) Sumpner, and Douglas (Cindy) Smith. He was blessed with many grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his wife lovely Joan, his beloved grandson Gene, and all his siblings.
