Debarah Ann Horton

Debarah Ann Horton, age 77 of Hamilton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Debbie was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 1, 1948 the daughter to Lawrence and Delois (nee Cornett) Halcomb. She graduated from Garfield High School then received her bachelor’s from Morehead State and her master’s from Miami University. Debbie spent her teaching career, well over 35 years, in the Hamilton City School District. She especially enjoyed her time as a high school history teacher. On July 16, 1994, she married the love of her life, James R. Horton. Debbie was a dedicated member of the West Chester Old Regular Baptist Church for many years.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 31 years, James R. Horton; her goddaughters, Hilary Brooks and Annie Payton-Williams; her godson, Jamie Payton; her brother-in-law, Tom (Pam) Horton; her nieces, nephews; her dear friends, Jennifer Scott and Jeanne Brooks; and numerous family members and friends. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; and her dear friend, Sue Schnell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. Graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Boyd Carmack officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
