Docia Ruth Eversole

Docia Ruth Eversole, of West College Corner, Indiana, last surviving child of Mary Jane (Gilbert) and Arch Edwards passed away on August 8, 2010 at Hospice of Hamilton. Born November 22, 1924 in Clay County, KY, Docia was educated in the Clay County, Kentucky schools. She moved to Ohio before WWII and worked in a factory in Hamilton, OH making bandages for the soldiers, from there she went to Capital Varsity Cleaners in Oxford, OH. Later, she and her brother Woodrow Edwards opened the original College View Restaurant in Oxford, OH on U.S. 27 south. She also had several restaurants in the Oxford, OH and College Corner, OH area, and worked at Bias Package Store in West College Corner, IN. Her passion of cooking, gardening, canning and flower growing is an asset that she has left her children and grandchildren.

In July 1975 she married Joe Eversole who preceded her in death in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters and Brother-in-laws Ann (Frank) Marianna, Edna (Boyd) Sizemore and Sister Mattie Depew. Brother and Sisters-in-law Virgil (Ruby & Mary Ellen) Edwards, Brothers Woodrow Edwards, Ray Edwards, and Walter Edwards.

She is survived by her children Carol Waddell of West College Corner, IN, Linda (John) Hendrix of Wylie, TX, Connie (John) Stringer of Hamilton, OH and Mike (Anne) Eversole of Waverly, OH.

Grandchildren Helen Schultheiss of Fairfield, OH, Mike (Anice) Ward of Woodstock, GA, Laura (John) Toschlog of New Paris, OH, Elizabeth Demeritte of Woodstock, GA, Kami (Scott) Billingslea of Phenix City, AL, Khenika Stringer of Hamilton, OH, Matt (Mandy) Eversole of Pittsburgh, PA, Joel Eversole of Columbus, OH and Bo McMillan of Richmond, KY.

Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Thursday August 12th from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Oxford Cemetery.
