Donald Brown

Donald Brown, age 66 of Somerville passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospice Unit on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 8:05 AM. He was born in Hamilton on December 28, 1940 the son of Warren and Alice (Wright) Brown. Don was employed as an overhead crane operator at Ransohoff Corporation for 17 years, retiring in 1996. On December 29, 1980 in Hamilton he married Phyllis (Laney) Briscoe.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Brown of Somerville; two sons, Greg Brown and Ronnie Briscoe, both of Hamilton; two daughters, Robin Little of Somerville and Pam Robinson of Dayton; six grandchildren, Daniel (fiancée Cindy) Levline and their children of Hamilton, Amanda King of Somerville, Jessica Kaminsky, Marina Briscoe, Sierra Briscoe, and Chris Anders, all of Oxford; two sisters, Susie McWilliams of Hamilton and Geraldine Clark of Needles, California; his mother-in-law, Shirley Cornett of Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Sherri (Keith) Withrow, Judy (Ray) Sturgill, both of Hamilton, Patty Mobley of Fairfield, and very close special sister-in-law, Nancy (Jack) Carr of Somerville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved cat Snuggles, who was Don’s baby. Don had numerous friends, too many to mention, with the exception of three very special friends from Ransohoff, Bobby Heitfeld, Stan Collett, and Donny Allen, all of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred Brown; brother-in-law, Chuck McWilliams; and a dear friend, Marvin "Tiny" Buell.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Don’s family extends a special thank you to the staff of Vitas Hospice, McCullough-Hyde Hospital, and Woodland Country Manor for all their care and support, especially Don’s nurse Marge in the ICU Unit at McCullough-Hyde, and to Vitas nurse Birdie. A very big thank you to all who took care of Don. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
