Donald Lee Collins

Donald Lee Collins, age 76 of Hamilton passed away at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 4:35 PM. He was born in Cincinnati on September 4, 1935 the son of Finley B. Collins and Dorothy (Keefer) Ballard. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 in the 11th Airborne Division. He was employed as a firefighter for the City of Middletown for 22 years, retiring in 1988 and also enjoyed selling real estate. On June 28, 1958 in Cincinnati he married Mary Lou Melter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Collins; four children, Heather Collins, Paige (Collins) (Matthew) Richardson, Victoria Collins, and Sean (Sharon) Collins; his mother, Dorothy (Keefer) Ballard; a brother, George Woodall; four grandchildren, Mikaela Rose Meyer, Jacob Tanner Collins, Alexander Phillip Theofylaktos, and George Christopher Theofylaktos; brothers-in-law Richard Carson and George H. (Dorcus) Melter; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Carolyn Carson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 3:00 PM. Gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
