Donald J. Dawes

Donald J. Dawes, age 81 of Lake Placid, Florida passed away at his residence on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 7:00 PM. He was born in Liberty, Indiana on November 1, 1926 the son of Raymond and Nora (Laytart) Dawes. In 1950, he married Sophia Wyatt, and she preceded him in death in 2008.

He is survived by a son, Robert Dawes of Dayton; a daughter, Mary E. Smith of Lake Park, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Bobbie George, Gerry Cox, Angela Smith, Aaron Haddix, Larry Rinck, and Rodney and Anthony Dawes; seven great-grandchildren, Danielle, Hilery, and Tyler George, Savannah Marcum, and Zachery, Cassandra, and Thomas Cox; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Dawes and Nora Beeks and a granddaughter, Barbara Smith.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Wendell Coning of Hamilton Dream Center officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
