Donald G. "Clicker" Garrett, age 72 of Hamilton passed away in his residence on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 7:30PM. He was born in Hamilton on February 2, 1935, the son of Albert and Minerva (Richardson) Garrett. Don was a 1953 graduate of Hamilton High School; a member of the FOP Lodge #38; the Ben Franklin Lodge #719 F&AM; a Kentucky Colonel; a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Navy from 1953 to 1961 and a member of the Harrison Christian Center. He was a Sergeant with the Hamilton Police Department for thirty-three years retiring in 1988 and then was a Deputy for the Butler County Sheriff’s Department for seven years and then became a Special Officer for the Hamilton Municipal Court for five years retiring in 2006. On February 22, 1958 in Fairfield, he was married to Ora Lee Tipton.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Lee Garrett of Hamilton; one son, Rev. Mark (Judith) Garrett of Harrison, Ohio; two daughters, Donna (Rev. Mark) Friend of Frankfort, Illinois and Holly (Sgt. lst Class Ken) Pryor of Hinesville, Georgia; three brothers, David (Gladys) Garrett, Harold (Yvonne) Garrett and Joel Andre (Betty) Garrett all of Hamilton; four sisters, Juanita (John) Price of Cincinnati, Lavilda (Russell) Isaacs of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, Betty Lou Hilling of Richmond, Indiana and Addie Mae (Calvin) Bolinger of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Mark Joseph Jr., Megan and Joshua Friend, Rebecca and Victoria Garrett, Alexis Norman and Zachary Pryor and also three sisters-in-law, Carmen Garrett of Baltimore, Maryland, Jackie Garrett and Linda Garrett both of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Kenneth, Oscar, Leslie, Vernon and Louis.
Funeral services will be held at the Harrison Christian Center, 120 North State St., Harrison, Ohio, 45030 on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 10AM with Rev. Mark Garrett and Rev. Mark Friend officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. on Sunday from 5PM to 8PM. A church will be built in Mexico to celebrate Don’s love for missions, instead of flowers, the family requests donations for this project to Harrison Christian Center. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the Staff of Vitas Hospice and to Dr. Gregory Savage and his staff, to all his friends and relatives for their loving care and concern.
