Donald Kettman

Donald Kettman, age 79 of Hamilton, passed away at Doverwood Village on Monday, September 29, 2014. He was born in Hamilton on June 15, 1935 to Clarence and Stella (Sayon) Kettman. On January 7, 1956 in Hamilton he married Hilda Winkeljohann. Don was a lifelong member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, and was a retired Mechanical Draftsman. He will be remembered also as a professional musician, and he loved playing Tenor Sax in many Big Bands, including Queen City Big Band, Harmony Kings, The Jack Carr Band, and many others. Don will be especially remembered for his singing rendition of "Mack the Knife."

He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Linda) Kettman, and James Kettman; three daughters, Karan (Richard) Butterfield, Jennifer (Gregory) Brown, and Nancy (William) Fister; 10 grandchildren, Erin (Eric) Hampton, Tracy (Josh) Carpenter, Zachary Butterfield, Kelly (Chris) Reddington, Kimberly Butterfield, Emily (Elijah) Balsbaugh, Abigail Brown, Katherine Fister, Samuel Fister, and Meghan Fister; 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl (Charlotte) Kettman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda R. Kettman; a son, David (Sandy) Kettman; daughter-in-law, Janet Kettman; and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Patrick McMullen, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Animal Friends Humane Society of Butler County. The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of the Doverwood Village Rehabilitation Center, American Mercy Home Care Nurses, and to Dr. Chetna Mital for their loving care and compassion for Don.
