Donald G. "D.G." Reaves, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at Garden Manor Extended Care Center on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8:08 PM. He was born in Hamilton on January 3, 1931 the son of William Charles and Josephine Marie (Schwartz) Reaves. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953 and was employed as a furniture salesman for over 50 years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid hunter who loved his dogs. Don was a member of UFCW Local #1099 and St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. On September 25, 1954 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hamilton, he married Roselyn F. Wocher.
He is survived by his wife, Roselyn F. Reaves of Hamilton; two sons, Robert Reaves of Hamilton and Kenneth (Pam) Reaves of Morning Sun, Ohio; a daughter, Nancy Sue (Jurgen) Baucke of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chrissy (Brad) Hurst, Julie (Logan) Hooper, Matthew (Kristen) Baucke, Jennifer Reaves, and Robbie Reaves; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Reaves.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Tim Bunch, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 11500 Northlake Drive, Suite 400, Cincinnati 45249 or to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati 45203.
