Donald "Butch" Applegate

Donald “Butch” Applegate, age 75 of Liberty Twp., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Butch was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 11, 1949 to the late Paul and Thomasine (Sheridan) Applegate. Butch owned and managed his own stone company for over 50 years. Butch will be remembered for having a heart of gold and always willing to help anybody. He was also a jokester and prankster with an amazing sense of humor. His passion for the lottery and playing cards, as well as his love for his Pebbles will never be forgotten. Above all, Butch loved his family and his friends.

Butch is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend,  Alice Breedlove Applegate; his children, Kim Applegate, Rhonda (J.R.) Robinson, William (Angie) Applegate, Donnie Brinegar, Sherry (Ito) Hernandez, Donald Kerker, and Nyioka (Tim) Phalen; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Miranda, Brad (Brittany), Billy (Cammy), Danielle (Marlena), Alex, Bree (Chris), Gabbey, and Ella; his great-grandchildren, Laila, Maleigha, Elijah, Emery, Paisley, Landon, Sloane, Clayton, and another on the way; his brothers, William (Kathy) Applegate and Raymond Applegate; many nieces and nephews including his special niece and faithful caretaker, Ylonda; and his precious baby girl, Pebbles.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Darlene Lewis and Mary Wells.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, his Funeral Service starting at 3:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave, Hamilton, Ohio with Rev. Johnny Breedlove officiating.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. James Essell and Dr. Paula Weisenberger, as well as the nurses and staff at Mercy Jewish and Fairfield Hospitals for their expert care and compassion over the years.
