Donald Ray Hopkins, age 78 of Hamilton, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, July 25, 2025. Donnie Ray was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 22, 1947 to Malachi and Mae (Parker) Hopkins. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Donnie Ray retired from Baker Construction after many years of service. Donnie Ray was a proud grandpa to his grandkids, enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping up with his grandson’s sports.
Donnie Ray is survived by his daughter, DeeDee (Mike) Hopkins-Ollis; his son, Erik Estes; his grandchildren, Sidney, Lindsey, Cooper, Malachi, Alyssa, Kaylee, Jalynn and Brianna; his siblings, Carol (Ken) Grisell, Yvonne Mize and Wanda Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donnie Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Malachi and Mae Hopkins; his son, Malachi Hopkins; his first wife, Ada “Cookie” King; his second wife, Kathy Hopkins; and his siblings, James Hopkins, David Hopkins, Wilma Smith, Linda Hopkins, Lois Hubbard, Charlene Davenport and Shirley Williams.
The family will honor Donnie Ray’s life with a visitation on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm that will conclude with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Butler County The Heroes’ Fund, Caring Like Angels & Heroes, C/O Heroes' Fund, 9078 Union Centre Blvd., Suite 350, West Chester, OH 45069.
