Doris J. Hangbers, age 78 of Seven Mile passed away at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 1:18 AM. She was born in Butler County on August 25, 1929 the daughter of Silas Edgar and Hazel (Barot) Smith. Doris was a homemaker who loved to cook and crochet, and was well-known for her homemade noodles and angel food cake. On May 29, 1948 in Glendale, she married Frank "Big Hank" Hangbers, who preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, Charles (Andrea) Hangbers of Hamilton, Dennis (Sharon) Hangbers of Marion, Indiana, and David (Cathy) Hangbers of Hamilton; a daughter, Tari (John) Porter of Trenton; eight grandchildren, Tony, Doug, Sheri, Tracy, Jennifer, Timothy, Brian, and Nathan; six great-grandchildren, Drake, Zachary, Bailey, Brayden, Daniel, and Alex; two brothers, Gordon Smith of Hamilton and Gerald Smith of Oklahoma; a sister, Joanne Smith of Colorado; dear friend Pat Kimble; and cousins Carl Barot and Imogene Mercer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Daniel Hangbers; a sister, Betty Beaver; and a sister-in-law, Donna Smith.
Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Stanley Daniels of New Lebanon Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her neighbor Lori and Postmaster Jon of Seven Mile Post Office for all the kindness and support they’ve shown over the years.
