Dorothy L. Barrett

April 12, 1918 — August 25, 2007

Dorothy L. Barrett, age 89 of Hamilton passed away at Butler County Care Facility on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 9:35AM. She was born in Hamilton on April 12, 1918, the daughter of Alvin and Louise (Johnson) Agnew, after their death in 1920, she was raised by George and Mary (Cordes) McNally. Dorothy was employed as an inspector for Schuler & Benninghoffen and then was a care-giver for the Children’s Home in Hamilton. She was an excellent cook, loved flower gardening and her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. On September 13, 1933 in Liberty, Indiana she was married to Henry Barrett who preceded her in death in 1981.

She is survived by one daughter; Violet Jones of Hamilton, four grandchildren, Susan Cox, Alisa Winterberg, Pamela Powell, and Tracy Mott, also three step-grandchildren, Trudy Stephen, Connie Wilson and Kristi Kinsey and thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her adopted parents; one daughter, Dolores Kelley in 1994; her son-in-law, Walter Jones in 2005; five brothers, Edward, Walter, Marshall Agnew, Robert and James McNally; three sisters, Gladys Kouba, Mabel Snape and Veree Shadley.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Larry Davis, Pastor of the Hamilton Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff of Butler County Care Facility and Vitas Hospice for their loving care and concern.
