Dorothy Devir

April 8, 1932 — October 3, 2010

Dorothy Devir (nee Waddell) was born 8 April 1932, in Wevertown, NY, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Parker) Waddell. She was raised along with seven brothers and sisters in that small Adirondack Mountain community. After completing high school in North Creek, it was in Long Lake, NY, that she met and married her husband of fifty years, Lawrence M. Devir. They moved to Ohio in 1951, living in Harrison, OH, before building a home in Millville, OH. It was here that they raised their three children. Mrs. Devir remained a homemaker until her family was grown. She later worked with her friends at Lodder’s Flowers in Millville and at Dr. Curt Reppart’s office in Hamilton. After Lawrence’s death in 2000, she enjoyed spending much of her time attending the sports and school activities of her six grandchildren: Matthew Stephenson, Ann Stephenson, Delia Devir, Eric Stephenson, Robert Devir and Meaghan Devir.

Mrs. Devir is survived by her children William Devir (Dayton, OH), Deb and Jeff Stephenson (Maineville, OH), Brian Devir (Milford, OH), her sisters Theresa Montena (Wevertown, NY), Laura Ross (Johnsburgh, NY), Marilyn Ashline (Willsboro, NY), Eileen Waddell (Wevertown, NY), her brother George Waddell (Sun City, AZ), and her six grandchildren. Her brothers James and Robert preceded her in death. Mrs. Devir was a resident of Mason Christian Village, Mason, OH. She died Sunday evening 3 October, 2010, after a brief hospitalization for an illness.
