Dr. Albert D. Bellamy

Dr. Albert D. Bellamy passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Fairfield. He was born in Middletown in 1930 and graduated from Middletown High School, class of 1948. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ohio State University in 1955, and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 1975. He was an honorary member of Phi Zeta Veterinarian Honor Society. Dr. Bellamy spent 21 years in the United States Army Veterinarian Corp., retiring in 1982 with the rank of Colonel. He served at various posts in the United States, Europe, and Okinawa. Among the many honors he received included the Legion of Merit, three Army Commendation Medals, and two Meritorious Service Medals.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine (nee McCloud) Bellamy of Fairfield; one son, Dwayne (Lori) Bellamy of Sparks, Nevada; two daughters, Jane (Steve) Hileman of Oxford and Linda Bellamy of Wooster, Ohio; six grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Kristine, Leanne, Cameron, and Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Bryson, Ayden, Ryder, Alivia, Skylar, and Hailey; and two sisters, Donna Wallace of Columbus and Norma Jane Wood of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Evalena (Ferguson) Bellamy.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM officiated by Chaplain Deborah Edwards of Hospice of Southwest Ohio. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park with Military Honors.
