Earl C. "Pap" Murphy Sr.

Earl C. "Pap" Murphy Sr., age 86 of Livingston, Kentucky, formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 24, 2011. He was born in South Irvine, Kentucky on June 29, 1924 the son of Hubert and Myrtle (Bishop) Murphy. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and was employed as a truck driver for Gratwahl Trucking. He was a member of Four Square Pentecostal Church and loved reading the Bible. On February 1, 1947 in Winchester, Kentucky he married Rosa "Rosie" Hall, and she preceded him in death in 2005.

He is survived by four daughters, Shirley (Lawrence) Bustle of Livingston, Kentucky, Brenda Johnson of Liberty Township, Peggy (Austin Vega) Hintermeister of Columbus, Georgia, and Rhonda (Karl) Bond of Portland, Tennessee; two brothers, Scotty (Kristine) Murphy and Kenny (Joan) Murphy, both of Irvine, Kentucky; five sisters, Marie (Frank) Dixon of Irvine, Kentucky, Laura Stone of Berea, Kentucky, Jeweldeen Mansfield, Mary Nordmeyer, and Patricia (Robert) Edmonson, all of Irvine, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Baby: his parents; a son, Earl Murphy Jr; two sons-in-law, Curtis J. Price Jr. and Donald Johnson; two brothers, Cecil Justine Murphy and Hubert Murphy; and two sisters, Earsle Kirby and Beulah Murphy.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Harold Hale of Four Square Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
