Earl E. Reece, "Earl The Pearl", age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Golden Years Health Care on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 2:45 AM. He was born in Franklin, Ohio on September 7, 1929 the son of Shird and Martha (Fowler) Reece. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1946 to 1951, where he received numerous medals and awards, including the Purple Heart. He was employed as a truck driver for Hauselman Transportation and Suburban Motor Freight Company, retiring in 1985. Earl was a member of BPOE #93, where he was a trustee for 30 years as well as serving as a former Exalted Ruler, Benjamin Franklin F&AM Lodge #719, a member of the Shriners, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, and American Legion Post #138.

He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Jerry) Mathews and Cynthia (Dave Hensel) Reece, both of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Emily (Rick) Arnold, Ashley (Devin) Hoover, and Victoria Mathews; a great-grandchild, Xander; a brother, William Lloyd Reece of Dayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Vernor, Shird Jr., Roy and Benny Reece; and two sisters, Vola Rhodus and Bessie Reece.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mercy Franciscan at Schroder and Golden Years Nursing Center for all their care and support.
