Earnest Stepp, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Raulerson Hospital, Okeechobee, Florida on Sunday, January 8, 2017. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on April 21, 1933 the son of Robert and Jessie (McIntosh) Stepp. Earnest was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed as a machinist for Voith for thirty eight years, retiring in 1997. He attended Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle and the Highway of Holiness. In 1954 in Irvine, Kentucky he married Jeanette Durham.
In 1957, Earnest dedicated his life to the Lord and since that time led by example. A man of conviction and quiet strength. One who was not always noticed but whose presence was always felt. Although a man of few words but rather that of action. He gave of his life in faithful service to his church, family, and friends whom he loved dearly. Always willing to give of his time, substance, and talents to others. Earnest loved to work with his hands and was actively involved in the building of four area churches, as well as, his faithful support of numerous missionaries and building projects. He lived a sacrificial life preferring his brother first. His absence will be felt as greatly as his presence and that which was influenced by his life will live on in those who have had the honor and privilege to know him and be counted his friend. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Jeanette Stepp of Hamilton; four children, Steven Stepp, Gary (Sherry) Stepp, Richard (Carol) Stepp, and Patricia (Randy) Coffey, all of Hamilton; two sisters, Floretta Robertson of Hamilton and Geraldine (Jimmy) Scrivner of Irvine, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Austin, Rachel, Christina, Abbi, Lee, Brian, Jeff, and Stephanie; twelve great grandchildren, Tyler, Colby, Bryce, Payton, Addison, Averi, Ryleigh, Braxton, Hailey, Olivia, Brilynn, and Braylin. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Steve, Boyd, Billy Ray, and Lawrence Stepp; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Diane Stepp and Bethany Marie Coffey; and two great grandchildren, Alexis Rae Stepp and Parker James Stepp.
Funeral service will be held at Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7460 Morris Rd, on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nathan Morris and Rev. Jerry Pascarella officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church.
