Edna M. Bailey

Edna M. Bailey age 82 of Hanover Twp. passed away at home on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:50AM. She was born in Jeffersonville, Kentucky on April 25, 1927, the youngest of eight children to Nathan and Clara (Taylor) Pence. Her family moved to Ohio in 1929 and Edna was raised primarily in Hanover Twp., graduating from Hanover High School in 1945. She kept in touch with many of her classmates but never forgot her Kentucky heritage. She worked at the Wright Airplane Plant in Evendale during WW11, after that at the Woolworth Five and Dime Store on High Street, she later worked in the Talawanda School District cafeterias starting at Hanover, moved up to Stewart and on to Talawanda, more or less following her children through all three schools. She retired in 1984 after twenty-two years of service. On October 1, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky, she was married to Elijah Bailey and he preceded her in death in 2000. To this union, three children were born.

She is survived by two sons; Gary (Christine) Bailey and Larry Bailey, both of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Mark (Donna) Bailey, Scott (Nikki) Bailey, Brooke (Chris) Dittman and Blair Fornshell and also ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and a son-in-law, Jim Fornshell of Ross. Edna enjoyed working outdoors and loved her roses and other flowers, embroidering and general sewing. She was a member of the Westview Church of Christ on Azel Ave., where she had love for her brothers and sisters in Christ. She also leaves many nephews. nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sherry Fornshell in 2008, two sisters; Mabel Hammonds and Mollie Thorne and five brothers; Lenix, Henry, Ernest, Earl and Archie Pence.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 10AM with Pastor David Stansberry of Westview Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Butler Co. Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM.
