Edward F. Mehmel Jr.

Edward F. Mehmel Jr., age 61 of Hanover Township passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was born in Bronx, New York on April 29, 1950 the son of Edward F. Sr. and Ruth Marie (Arcularius) Mehmel. Edward was employed as an electrical engineer for Fischbach & Moore Construction for 27 years, and then for Granite Construction for three years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, trains, gardening, and Texas Hold ‘Em. Edward was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. On November 2, 1979 in Annapolis, Maryland he married Nancy Haven.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mehmel; four children, Dustin Denzler, Michael (Kelly) Denzler, Jodi Denzler, and Sarah Mehmel; three grandchildren, Miranda Christine Denzler, Kenneth Edward Denzler, and Kyle Nicholas Edward Mehmel; seven brothers, Tommy (Emma) Mehmel, Gene (Janet) Mehmel, Michael Mehmel, Peter Mehmel, Patrick (Debbie) Mehmel, Jimmy Mehmel, and John (Patricia) Mehmel; a sister, Terry (Charles) Kernel; his mother-in-law, Viola Haven; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Toni) Haven and Reuben (Shelly) Haven; two sisters-in-law, Linda (David) Head and Viola Haven; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Kelly Gruenschlaeger. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanne Mehmel; his father-in-law, Francis Haven; and a brother-in-law, Frank Haven.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jeff Bacon, Celebrant. Cremation will be held. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kidney Foundation. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of Mercy Hospital.
