Effie Treva (Barker) Winkler

July 31, 1929 — September 3, 2013

Effie Treva (Barker) Winkler, age 84 of Hamilton. Treva’s family was by her side when she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 8:40 PM. She passed away peacefully, in the home that she shared with her beloved husband, Kenneth, for 50 years. She was born in Hamilton on July 31, 1929 the daughter of Moss and Mossie (Isaacs) Barker. Her world changed when she met Kenneth Winkler, and the two became one in Irvine, Kentucky on September 2, 1950. Treva was employed at Twin Fair for 21 years. She was a member of Washington Chapter 195 Order of Eastern Star and Princeton Pike Church of God. Treva attended church faithfully until Alzheimer’s kept her from doing so. She loved the Lord, leaning on and trusting Him until the end. Her beliefs were strong and carried her throughout her life for 40+ years. Treva was a lioness by the way she loved and protected her cubs; she would have stood up and fought to the death for her daughters; Patty and Pam. They knew this about her and felt her amazing and unconditional love every day of their lives. Her children; Patty, Regan, Pamela, Greg, Dylan, and Marissa meant everything to her.

She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Patricia S. Roark and Pamela Winkler Cox; and a beloved grandson, Dylan Travis Roark; four siblings, Betty Lou (Tommy) Hymer, Drucilla (Eddie) Muncie, Earl Barker, and Ronnie Barker; other family members Johnny "John" (Renee) Barker, Jeffrey "Todd" Barker, and Jachelle Tricilla "Shellie" (Roger) Prescott; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and those special people in her life that she called family, Drew Miller, Johnny Ray Carberry, Travis Parsley, Brian Barker, and Marissa Michelle Moore; and a sister-in-law, Mattie Pauline Winkler, that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Stanley Tracy Barker; a sister, Barbara Ann White; two sons-in-law, Regan Roark and Greg Cox; and brothers-in-law Raymond Winkler, Glen Winkler, Robert Winkler, Dan White, Roscoe Lainhart, and Roy Marcum.
