Elbert Russell Rush Sr., age 92 of Fairfield, passed away at Westover Retirement Community on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 04:45AM. He was born in Laurel County, KY on March 10, 1922 to Charles and Ora (Hedrick) Rush. Elbert retired from SEARS, Roebuck & Company. He was a member of Allison Ave. Baptist Church, served in the Army during WWII, Kentucky Colonel, Master Mason McKee Lodge #144, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a special deputy with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years; Wanda Rush nee Mullins, his children; Elbert R. Rush Jr. (Cindy), Wanda F. Parker (Bill Sparks), E. JoAnne Rand (Greg), Carolyn E. Retherford, Joyce G. Hacker (Gordy), and Brenda J. Geisler (Roger), 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, his sister; Pina Moberly, brother-in-law; Clyde Payne He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Harvey, Clint, and Mert, his sisters; Retha and Irene, son-in-law; Tim Retherford and Rick Parker.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1 PM with Andrew Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Condolences can be made at www.browndawsonflick.com.
