Eldon Leon Kerr Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 4:24 AM at the age of 91. Born on April 20th, 1935, to Ruth and Joe Kerr in Hamilton, Ohio. On June 14, 1952 Eldon married the love of his life Ida Mae (Stephens) Kerr and celebrated 74 years of marriage. Together they began their life in his neighborhood that he cherished. Church and family were the foundations of everything he did. He began working at Champion Paper following in the footsteps of his father Joe and brother Johnny. It was there that he earned the nickname "Luke". Eldon dedicated 40 years to Champion Paper, providing a secure and loving foundation for Ida and their children. Eldon lived out his faith with quiet strength and unwavering devotion. As an active member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ and later West Elkton Church of Christ. He modeled kindness, humility, and steadfast Christian leadership. Eldon was the kind of man who made everyone feel like family, a grandpa to everyone he met. To know Eldon was truly to be loved. Outside of work, Eldon found joy in adventure, and the beauty of "God's Creation". Lake Cumberland, especially Diamond Acres, became a gathering place for unforgettable family moments with boat rides, long walks, campfires, and motor cycle rides. Eldon's love for exploring back roads, mountains, and countryside created memories that will be cherished for generations. Any day with the wind in his face and the open road ahead was a "good day". For many years Eldon and Ida traveled the country forming lifelong relationships. Their trips to Bradenton, Florida rekindled Eldon's love for travel and added yet another layer of joy to their adventures together. Eldon was deeply present in the lives of his grandchildren. He showed up every time, every event, every milestone, and even when he didn't feel quite like himself. He was there with a hug and a word of encouragement. His love was steady, generous, and unconditional.
Eldon is survived by his devoted wife Ida Mae Kerr; his son Eldon Leon (Patricia) Kerr Jr.; his daughter Beverly Pritchett; grand daughters Kristy (William) Jones, Julie (Douglas) Brickler; great grandchildren, Alyssa (Dustin) Helsley, Ryan Jones, Trevor (Samantha) Jones; great-great grandchildren, Jackson Brickler, Isaac Brickler, Harper Brickler; and great grand children Makenzie Helsley and Weston Helsley, along with his loving sister Inez Daniel's. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Joe Kerr; his brother, John (Johnnie) Kerr; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved family members. Eldon lived a life marked by love, loyalty, faith, and family. His legacy is woven into every person who had the blessing of knowing him. Though he will be deeply missed the memories he created and the love he gave will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved him.
