Eleanor J. Shackleford

Eleanor J. Shackleford, age 83 of Hamilton passed away in Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 4:55 PM. She was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 18, 1924 the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Losi) Masiero. Eleanor was a very active member of the Salvation Army and was employed as an LPN at Powell’s Nursing Home for ten years, and then was a monitor for the MRDD school bus for eight years, retiring in 1986. In Newport, Kentucky she was married to William K. Shackleford, and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Donald and William Shackleford, both of Hamilton; one daughter, Ele Carr of Belleair Bluffs, Florida; and also ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Rosie Shackleford in 2005; one daughter, Mary Morton in 1999; three brothers, Ernest, Anthony, and Robert Masiero; and two sisters, Josephine Zbikowsiki and Pauline Chaivaro.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Majors Ted and Joy Slye of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
