Elijah "Ike" Isaacs, age 91 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 5:55 AM. He was born in Estill County, Kentucky on April 12, 1919 the son of Dillard F. and Provy (Richardson) Isaacs. Ike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was employed as a welder maintenance man at Fisher Body for 30 years, retiring in 1977. Ike was a long time member of National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association in Friendship, Indiana and always loved hunting and fishing throughout his life. On June 12, 1943 in Houston, Texas he married Janie Joe Wood, and she preceded him in death in 2009 after 66 years of marriage.
He is survived by four children, Patricia Osterberger, Carol Brusaw, both of Cincinnati, Joseph (Linda) Isaacs, and Robert Isaacs, both of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Kim (John) Wilcox, Cindy (Dave) Russell, Rene Osterberger, Rani (Steve) Hoepker, Tanya (Doug) Lape, and Kristy (Benjamin) Weaver; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gary Jackson of Friendship Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
