Elizabeth "Betty" Shollenbarger

Elizabeth "Betty" Shollenbarger, age 83 of Fairfield passed away in Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 10:47 AM. She was born in Hamilton on January 6, 1924 the daughter of George and Rose (Bennett) Grewe. Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was employed as a sales clerk in the cosmetics department of Elder Beerman for twenty years, retiring in 1991. On January 24, 1944 in Richmond, Virginia she was married to James Shollenbarger, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by three sons, James (Linda) Shollenbarger of Fairfield, David (Artha) Shollenbarger of Hamilton, and Jeff (Joann) Shollenbarger of Fairfield; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard in 1977; four brothers, Stanley, Lawrence, James, and Leroy Grewe; and five sisters, Estelle Brinkman, Lavern McCroskey, Mary Menchen, Josephine Burns, and Janet Stewart.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Larry Tharp, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
