Ellen Jane Cain, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 12:10 PM. She was born in Hamilton on July 8, 1921 the daughter of James and Isabelle (Cain) Steele. Ellen was employed in the linen department of Fort Hamilton Hospital for 16 years and was a member of Hamilton Christian Center since 1968. On April 27, 1946 in Hamilton, she married James E. Cain, and he preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Alice) Cain and Kenzie (Carol) Cain, both of Hamilton; two daughters, Lisa (Gerry) Tomlin of Cincinnati and Jalah (James) Turner of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Jerry (Mary Ann) Tillery Jr., Vincent Tillery, Amy Bagley, and Seth Turner, all of Hamilton; a sister, Leona Webb of Hamilton; seven step-grandchildren, including Michael Denney, David Denney, both of Cincinnati, and Cynthia (Alan) Brashear of Trenton; twenty great-grandchildren, including Kyle, Brett, Vincent, Nicholas, Samuel, Kaitlyn, and Leah Ann; and a special friend, Dorothy (Rose) Horning. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Hobert, Everett Eugene, Leonard "Link," Morgan, James, Virgil and Louis; and three sisters, Lessie, Bessie, and Nannie.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Johnny Wade Sloan of Hamilton Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to Hamilton Christian Center or to the American Heart Association.
