Ellen Rose

Ellen Rose, age 84, of Lakeland Florida, formerly of Hamilton, passed away at Good Shepard Hospice, Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, June 18, 2011. She was born in Hamilton on October 6, 1926 the daughter of Albert R. and Rachel (Cox) McKenney. Ellen was a class of 1944 graduate of Hamilton High School. She was a secretary for Procter & Gamble for 25 years retiring in 1988. Ellen was a member of First Church of God.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Helen Eleton and sister, Betsy Brown; a brother, John McKenney; two half-brothers, Nelson McKenney and Frank McKenney; two half sisters, Virginia Taylor and Ella Mae Zimmer; two nephews; and dear friend Robert Godschall.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., on Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM with Rev. Greg Dungan officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer.
