Elmer Lee Scarth, age 93 of Hamilton, passed away at Kettering Hospital Hamilton on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Elmer was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 21, 1932 to Roy and Lucille (Geisler) Scarth. Elmer was a master brick mason and beloved member of the Hamilton community. Known for his craftsmanship, dedication, and humble spirit, he helped build countless homes throughout the region, leaving behind a legacy quite literally set in stone. Over the years, his reputation as a skilled and dependable bricklayer grew, earning him the respect of homeowners, builders, and fellow tradespeople alike. His work was more than a profession—it was a passion he proudly shared with his son, with whom he started a family business that continued to serve the Hamilton area for years to come.
After his retirement, Elmer worked at Rose Chevrolet where he was a courtesy driver, taking customers to their next destination. Elmer thoroughly enjoyed people’s company and being able to share his knowledge of Hamilton with them.
Elmer is survived by his son, Don Scarth; his grandchildren, Andrew Scarth and Jenna (Brandon) Cole; his great-grandchildren, AJ and Maggie Cole; and his daughter-in-law, Linda (Ron) James. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lucille Scarth; his wife, Barbara Scarth; his wife, Diane Scarth; his daughter, Tami Scarth; and his siblings.
Elmer will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park next to his first wife, Barbara.
