Elsie L. Kolar

Elsie L. Kolar, age 89 of Fairfield passed away in Birchwood Care Center on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 1:45 PM. She was born in Centertown, Missouri on November 25, 1919 the daughter of Otto and Zena (Miller) Jones. Elsie was a devoted Christian and a member of the Walden Ponds Community Church of the Nazarene and was employed as a librarian for the City of Nashville Tennessee Library for 30 years, retiring in 1984. In 1938 in Jefferson City, Missouri she was married to Richard W. Kolar, and he preceded her in death in 1944 in World War II with the United States Air Force.

She is survived by one son, Larry (Jane) Kolar of Barstow, California; two daughters, Linda (Dwayne) Little of San Diego, California and Lois (Rev. Harville) Duncan of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Karen (Steven) Flanagan, Vicki (Paul) Burnette, Lori Tan, Christopher (Jill) Little, Julie (Daryl) Pierce, and Dana (David) Hicks; and also fourteen great-grandchildren; and a nephew, William (Josephine) Lister of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herbert, Raymond, and Robert Jones; and five sisters, Ethel Lewis, Barcie Jones, Bertha Lister, Ruth Hartley and Leona Hakes.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harville Duncan, Pastor of the Walden Ponds Community Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Walden Pond Community Church of the Nazarene.
