Elsie B. Rigling

Elsie B. Rigling, age 88 of Hamilton passed away in Fort Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Sunday April 29, 2007 at 12:55 AM. She was born in Butler County Ohio on February 5, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Ruppert) Hunkler. Elsie was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hamilton. She worked as a volunteer for Mercy Hospital and for the Butler County Board of Elections. On April 24, 1939 in Oxford, she was married to Ralph R. Rigling and he preceded her in death in 1972.

She is survived by one son Gregory (Marcia) Rigling of Hamilton, two daughters, Christine Bevins of Hamilton, and Cynthia (James) Walsh of Cincinnati, ten grandchildren Brian (Maria), Denise and Keith Bevins, Julie, Jennifer, and Justin Rigling, Kevin, Erin, Lauren, and Steven Walsh, and one great-grandchild Tyler James Bevins. She was preceded in death by her parents five brothers, Frank, John, Lewis, Fredrick, and Joseph Hunkler, and seven sisters, Emma Zettler, Ruth Fox, Clara Tharp, Catherine Ashbrook, Florence Conrad, Mary Hunkler, and Nora Hunkler.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday May 2, 2007 at 7PM with Father Joseph Bruening Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home 330 Pershing Ave. on Wednesday from 4:30PM to 6:30PM. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Joseph School, BELS fund, or Badin High School as Elsie firmly supported the opportunity of a Catholic School education for all.
