Elsie May Shiplet

Elsie May Shiplet, age 87 of Hamilton, OH passed away at Birchwood Care Center on June 1, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born in Middletown on May 9, 1925 the daughter of Joseph Willoughby and Rhoda (Henderson) Dearth. On June 30, 1950 she married Guy Oakley Shiplet in Hamilton, and they enjoyed 57 years together. He preceded her in death in 2007. Elsie was a homemaker and later worked at Ross High School. She was a member of Faith Church, Rebekah Lodge, and Senior Citizens. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her greatest joy was her family and many friends she leaves to cherish her memory.

Elsie is survived by three daughters, Diana Lynn (Carl) Bauknecht of New Richmond, Ohio, Sandra Kay (Bill) Spadafora of Liberty Township, and Lora Marie (Danny) Minges of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Joseph Spadafora, Katherine (Matt) Kincaid, Alison (Chris) Grow, and Adam (Amanda) Minges; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Floran Willoughby; and a sister, Donna Colgate.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10 AM with Dr. Allen Minor of Faith Church officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Doverwood and Birchwood, and Dr. Pawel for their special care of Elsie.
