Elsie Smith

Elsie Smith, age 90 of Hamilton passed away at Golden Years Nursing Center on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 6:15 AM. She was born in Clay County, Kentucky on April 25, 1920 the daughter of Phil and Alice (Bowling) Collins. Elsie enjoyed flowers and gardening. On March 30, 1936 in Manchester, Kentucky she married Elbert Smith, and he preceded her in death in 1981.

She is survived by three children, Clara (Joe) Harris, Henry "Lester" Smith, and Helen (Paul) Guffey, all of Hamilton; a sister, Myrtle Smith of Hamilton; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Geneva Smith; and numerous siblings.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Paul Marcum of Fellowship Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Golden Years Nursing Center and to Hospice of Hamilton for their loving care and compassion.
