Emerson C. "Moe" Erion, age 66 of Hamilton passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 6:07 AM. He was born in Hamilton on November 14, 1941 the son of Emerson and Iola (Ernest) Erion, Sr. Moe was a veteran of the Vietnam Era with the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1, K of C #968 and the Fourth Degree, Eagles #407, Independent of Order of Foresters, and the Wolf Creek Bass Club. Moe was employed as a loader for General Motors for 25 years, retiring from the Lordstown Plant in 1993. On September 19, 1964 in Hamilton he was married to Mary Ann Weber.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Erion of Hamilton; four daughters, Michelle (Rob) Bucheit, Carolyn Townsend, Melanie (Eric) Bender, and Betsy (Billy) Pittman, all of Hamilton; one brother, James (DeeDee) Erion of North Ft. Myers, Florida; one sister, Jovita Smith of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby, Erin, Stephanie, Olivia, Justin, Christopher, and Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Melissa in 1979; and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Weber.
Prayers will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Fr. Mike Pucke, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice.
